Nordic-Baltic Rural and Maritime Award 2018

The Rural Network Support Units of Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden have launched a competition for good projects funded under the EU’s Rural Development (EAFRD) and Fisheries (EMFF) Funds.

The award seeks to recognise projects, actions or investments in the participating countries, which have received support under either of the two Funds.

The winners were announced at the Awards Gala Event in Örnsköldsvik, during the Swedish Rural Parliamentlänk till annan webbplats, öppnas i nytt fönster of 18-20 May 2018.

The winners of the Nordic-Baltic Rural and Maritime Award 2018 are:

  • Estonia: "Living on the Edge" - South Estonia Yellow windows route
  • Poland: The Northern Fisheries Trail, including the creation of educational and promotional centres
  • Finland: Development, piloting and use of a selective grid to improve trawl fishing in regions of endangered salmon migration

The final nominees, one from each country, were:

  • Estonia: "Living on the Edge" - South Estonia Yellow windows route
  • Finland: Development, piloting and use of a selective grid to improve trawl fishing in regions of endangered salmon migration
  • Germany: Fish from the fishing boat
  • Latvia: Applying for MSC certification of sprat fishing in the Baltic Sea in subarea 22.32 of the European Union waters
  • Lithuania: Renewal of equipment and buildings of the Laimutė Sadauskienė enterprise with aim to increase competitiveness
  • Poland: The Northern Fisheries Trail, including the creation of educational and promotional centres
  • Sweden: The handymen cooperative in Hambrunge
